EasyResearch Weekly Dividends Update

The week kicks off with Sasol, one of the biggest oil companies in South Africa, publishing its financial results.

Truworths International Limited, Woolworths Holdings Limited, and Harmony Gold Mining Company Ltd will also be publishing their financial results later this week.

• General Motors Co increased its quarterly dividend in 2024 by 33%. The automotive giant also announced a $10 billion share buyback, which is expected to conclude in Q4 of 2024. 
• Barclays PLC announced a £1 billion buyback program that will run until 20 November this year.
• Barrick Gold Corp authorised a buyback valued at $1 billion, where it will be repurchasing its own shares over the next 12 months.
• Newmont Corp will commence with a share buyback valued at $1 billion over the next 24 months.

Essentially, a share buyback is when a company purchases its own shares, which can boost its share price.

When it comes to special dividends, Arch Resources and Ampol Ltd are preparing to pay dividends that consist of ordinary and special dividends.
