We're still in earnings season, and this week's names like Beyond Meat, AMC, Sony, Disney, Berkshire Hathaway, and Alibaba Group will be releasing their earnings.
This week, 44 companies are preparing to pay dividends with upcoming last trading dates; 27 from America, 10 from the United Kingdom, four from Australia, two from South Africa and one from Europe.
In this update, Shell PLC will distribute $5.6 billion to shareholders: $3.6 billion will be spent on repurchasing shares (share buyback), while the rest will be spent on dividends. Rio Tinto will be paying $2.9 billion, which is a 50% payout of its earnings ($5.7 billion) reported for the first six months of its 2023 financial year. BP PLC increased its dividend by 10% and also announced a $1.5 billion share buyback.
Equinor ASA and CVR Energy Inc will both be paying an ordinary dividend as well as a special dividend.
It's worth noting that Rio Tinto will pay dividends in pounds, dollars, and Australian dollars in their respective markets; Shell will pay in dollars, pounds, and euros; and BP PLC will pay in dollars and pounds.
